Yes I do.
We have two strikes against us.

1.) We're black.

You have to try super hard to prove yourself in comparison to someone that is not black

2.) We're women.

If you are a man, you're chances are better at getting the job before the woman.

If you overcome this despite the obstacles before you, I congratulate you!

Let me offer a different perspective, being a white, male business owner in the South.

I would state that, today, nobody wants to turn down a qualified black, female applicant. In fact, larger companies are rather aggressive in searching out minorities for employment and advancement. Part of that stems from a desire to boost the corporation's image in the marketplace, and part of it comes from a recognition that business can be an agent of social change.

That being said, I think the problem today is more often cultural than ethnic. In the business world, there are accepted norms of speech and dress and professional conduct, whether you're black, white, yellow, or green with eyestalks. Proper grammar and articulation is expected in everyday conversation. The nuances of business ettiquette can take years to study and master. And, if you are not dressed appropriately, nobody's going to take you seriously in a business setting–whether you come from the inner city or from a priveleged background.

So rather than worry about whether the playing field is level, I would submit that it's far more level that you might think. Instead of bemoaning any possible unfairness, find a good mentor in business and learn. You'll be amazed how fast you'll advance with his or her help.

WHY JUST SOUTHERN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN? I GUESS I DON'T REALLY KNOW. I AM FROM THE NORTH, BUT I GO TO SCHOOL IN THE SOUTH. I DON'T REALLY KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT BLACK WOMEN IN THE SOUTH AND PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENTS. WHAT I DO KNOW IS THAT JUST BEING A WOMAN OR JUST BEING BLACK CAN MAKE YOU HAVE SOME TROUBLE GETTING AHEAD IN THE PROFESSIONAL WORLD. ITS A GOOD QUESTION THOUGH.

No, I don't think it's a "southern" issue.

I think and African American woman will have trouble if she does not carry herself in a way conducive to the environment she seeks.

I'm from the Midwest, and I've seen women come to job interviews with jeans, gym shoes, shorts, tank tops, chewing gum, scarves on their heads, and talking to perspective employers with attitudes, and improper language.

It's really the person, not the region.

All Negroids and mulatto's have trouble 'getting" ahead anywhere in the world including the Jewnited States. What do you expect with a average IQ of 70 (borderline retarded) and 80 for mullatos (the more Caucasoid genes the higher the IQ and the less ugly). Negroids live naturally closer to lower animal existance than they do to White civilization. Sure it is easier in White founded nations than it is in black Sub Sahara Africa. Here Negroids are leeching from White civilization plus they get all sorts of special treatment by law and custom. You should be glad your ancestors were slaves. Negroids in Africa would kill to become slaves here today. They were given useful work (defective cotton pickers are obsolete now), better and more food, health care, better housing, and a much better life than they had as slaves in Africa or even as free creatures. If not for slavery you would be in a mud/straw/dung hut(poop and flies -Negroids are the only people that have not figured out the connection or just do not care) with flies all about that would not bother you anymore than they seem to bother water Buffalo's, waiting for the next food shipment from the White man. Keep in mind that tribes in Africa that have had little White help and or contact still live stone age lives. As tradition they whip and cut each other and in other ways torture and mutilate each other. It is much worse than the good treatment they had in general as slaves here. Remember they had value as slaves and thus were cared for well while White people did the most dangerous jobs and had their wages lowered because of slavery.

An African American is a person from Africa that moves here and becomes a citizen, such as a White person from South Africa, or a mulatto or Semite from Egypt. The African term is a geographical designation or term not a racial one and it tells you nothing about race. I will not call people stupid things they are not just because they want to be called them because they are stupid. The same for the "Asian" term used often to describe mongoloids though Asia is not just inhabited by mongoloids. Then there is the Latin or Hispanic term that is actually a language designation wrongly used to refer to race for mestizos (part White and part mongoloid). People are so confused about race. They have been miseducated to be that way. The above terms are examples of how to confuse people on race. The equality myth is another.

Unfortunately, I believe it is women in general. An ethnic woman is going to have more trouble. I am sorry,it is just not fair.
