Please go to the View button and click the Header and footer. You will get a box with dotted line in starting of the page and at the end of the page. you can add what do you want in this. Please close the tool bar which will appear along with the dotted line box. Once you close that one you can add the header or footer for the pages.

In Word, go to View, then headers/footers, simple as that. Add your header and it will show on every page. If it is a letter, in page setup, choose different first page, and then place the header in Section 2. This will show a blank header on the first page of your letter and your second page header on page two.

Go to View up at the top
Click on Header/Footer
Type in the box that appears, you can center things or change the font just like normal.
Click close when you are done
