Someone told me that if you squish a cockroach that you are basicaslly replacing the one for 100 because they are loaded with live larvae that upon being suished, spreads all over. I have been looking on the internet to see if this is true but I have not found anything that tells yes or no. Can anyone help?

It depends which type of cockroach. If it is Periplaneta americana (the American cockroach) you can crush it and nothing much would happen provided you squish it hard enough. In the case of Blatela germanica (the German cockroach) the female caries the sack of eggs attached outside to the lower end to her body. So if someone disturbs the cockroach it has the habit of releasing the sack which contain about 30 eggs. But what you can do is to squish the cockroach and the egg capsule.

I've also been told the same, and it was on a French tropical island. I don't know if that's true or not.
I've squished hundreds of cockroaches in my life, and have never seen this happen.

However, it might be true if the cockroach was pregnant. But they might not be able to live very long afterwards. Once, I killed a spider which was carrying her babies (still in this island!), and the bag just opened and plenty of tiny spiders started running everywhere. However, after about 5 seconds, they just stop running. I don't think they can really live: it's probably in their instinct to run everywhere. Anyway, we just killed all of them.

So, basically, even if it's true about the cockroaches, I'm sure it's fairly to kill all the babies.

ewww yuck! I think that would be a myth myself considering you would squish the eggs as well. But hey I don't know first hand. Also there is many sites on the net that have deceiving and untrue info, so remember just because you see it on the net, doesn't make it true.

it will die if you squish it thoroughly enough. cockroaches
reproduce by laying eggs. the egg sac looks like a
brown capsule and hatches out gobs of babies. as for
that squished one, other insects (like flies for instance)
will lay eggs in the goo and hatch out babies. that is
the larvae you will see if you do not clean up the mess.
my suggestion; go ahead and squish the one you find,
then clean it up and dispose of the body there are
enough insects around without inviting more.

Simple answer- it dies.
And about the larve- I've never seen it on the many roaches I've squished. They could be nonvisable to the human eye, however.

If you squish the whole roach, you also squish the eggs that are carried.
Not to mention that you have a mess to clean up afterward. lol

well, not if you clean it up and then flush it and then sanitize the area... but I have never even seen a cockroach in my life so I can't be 100% sure, sorry! Hope I helped

Really, you should santize the area after you kill it because if it is true, you don't want more. It's hard to get rid of them so the more you can do, the better.

It usually dies.

Okay really though.. never heard of it. Probably a myth.. send it in to the Mythbusters on Discovery Channel and maybe it'll show up on tv.. haha. Really though.. you should do it!
