They had a provision in it that sheilded americans from this type of treatment but it was taken out .Now we all can be detained for as long as they want and no charges need to be filled .This is what i have feared most .

Bush was given the power to interpret the rules of the Geneva convention without changing the existing laws,, so he can cover his butt and his subordinates from prosecution under the laws,, retroactive of course to the beginning of the war in Iraq,, he also has the power to hold his secret prisoners,, have military tribunals,, and continue to torture enemy combatants any way he determines to be necessary,, using his own conscience,,, in other words,,

So are you saying that while the sex-obsessed Democrats were blathering on about an insignificant like Foley, they miss the ball on the torture bill?

Hence why Dems don't win national elections.

Yes, in essence, Bush got exactly the bill he wanted. We can only hope that this new breed of "enabler act" is overturned soon...before any non-conservatives are rounded up and placed in the concentration camps bushco is building in the US.
