I previously had a prescription at walgreens and was getting a generic medicine. Now, I get the same script at rite aid because its closer and it is a generic medicine. However, I noticed the pills are different. Will they have a different effectiveness? If not, why are they different?

The pills are made by different generic pharmaceutical companies so they will look differently. If you are concerned, call the pharmacy where it was filled and have them double check to make sure that it was filled correctly. It is most likely correct but it will make you feel better if you call and confirm.

different companies make them, the inactive ingredients of the (such as coloring, or the inert material the capsule/tablet is made out of) are different but the active ingredient (the stuff that makes the pill work) should be exactly the same. some people in healthcare debate that some really dose sensitive drugs like warfarin and synthroid vary significantly between generic brands due to difference in absorption but for just about everything else different generics should work just as well for you

Probably because not just one company makes generic's. It's the same with my husbands methadone for his back pain. The pills are totally different from one pharmacy to the next, but they work the same regardless!

If it will make you feel better you can search online for "identify prescription pill" and type in the markings ...they will confirm for you that you are indeed taking the same med just from a different manufacturer

When a generic drug is manufactured more than one company can make it. Obviously, they make their pills look different. The medicines and amounts are identical......otherwise they aren't a generic.

Probably just made by a different manufacturor. You have nothing to worry about. They have been proven to be bioequivalent of the name brand.
