When the wife is sitting on the park bench and one scene is with the ice cream parlor guy and the next scene is with her husband. I DONT GET IT?!?!?!

i think it means that her attraction to the ice cream man was more of a Lacking in her husband's part, than the ice cream man himself. therefore, when her husband had changed, she was able to see Him as her husband and be happy, instead of seeking someone else.

Seriously, though, I don't remember that scene too well since it's been a couple of years since I have seen it, but I would believe she wakes up from her fantasy to see her husband sitting next to her. It tells you that hubby has come around to this new colorful world and things are going to be OK, maybe even pleasant...
