Nationality wise there are many kids who have actually recently become orphans in Afghanistan. There are thousands in India, China and even here, in the United States. You have to ask yourself which nationality you feel comfortable with. Also ask take into consideration little things; if you're going to adopt a baby in China, are you going to be able to travel there? If you adopt a baby boy from India/Cambodia/china/Europe, are you going to have him circumcised (a lotta folks don't even think of that one)? Can you deal with the bureacracy of some of these countries (i.e. dozens of forms in India, bribing officials in Africa, stuff like that (not to pick on any country, just inputting names there))

As for names; for a girl, I'm particularly partial to the names Katherine, Madison, Harmony and Andrea

For boys: McGreggor (an up and coming name, if you believe the authors of Freakonomics), Ewan (pronounced You-win, also spelled Euan), James, Xander (sometimes spelled Zander), Xavier, and most of all of course, my namesake Owen.

Congratulations in advance; I'm sure you'll be wonderful parents to which ever child you ultimately adopt, and I'm sure they'll be lucky to be your child.

China has a really good adoption program. My parents adopted twice from China and my Aunt adopted from China three times. All the little girls are so precious.

In China, boys are held in a higher regard than girls, so about 98% of the children available are girls. The Chinese people are very supportive too when they went there.

My sister adopted a little boy from Siberia. My nephew is such a wonderful little person.

There are so many children all around the world who need homes so wherever you choose would be good. The important thing is that you are making a difference in a childs life. As far as names go, it depends on the gender and even the place you adopt from. Sometimes, people who adopt internationally will use a piece of the childs old name along with a new name.

Good luck. I hope your adoption experience is a good one. Take care.

Honestly, i say a Guatamalen child. The living conditions down there are horrid, and plenty of kids are up for adoption. The children are very well mannered, suprizingly. They are cute and they need help. Some sleep in hay, dirt and piles of you know what.
Baby Names? I like the name Karesha or Savannah. They are indiviualist names, and Karesha is a very nice ethnical name.

There is a great need for adoptive families in China...especially girls. The orphanages are because of the governments' limitations on the number of children a family can have. Guatamala is another country that is in desperate need of adoptive families... (the process is a little smoother.). I think it is great that you are going to adopt a baby from another country! Diversity equals tolerance! Good luck!!

Why not just adopt a child who needs a loving and caring home, nationality has nothing to do on if they are going to be smart or cute, it's how you bring them up to be. You just need to prepare yourself for those who think adopting out side your race is wrong. God bless you for adopting a child who needs your love and care.

I think that the most important thing when looking for a child isn't what nationality they come from but how you are going to be able to help them.

I think its really important to remember that although you are going to adpot this child and raise it as yours, you cannot forget where the baby came from. Embrace your child's nationality as a part of your family not something to be swetp under the rug.

I would check out names from that origin.

Guatemala. I've read that there are lots of babies waiting for adoption from Guatemala and you can get a baby in about 4-6 months.

Good Luck!

Whichever one calls to your heart. Do some research and decide what is the best fit for your family.
Names? You could give the child an American name or one that fits their ethnicity. It would be a great link to the child's roots but choose one that will be easily pronounced by teachers in school (and on job apps later in life).

nationality doesn't matter. but i would want to adopt a kid from a third world country who really needs a family like africa or maybe asia cause there only aloud one kids and they like boys the best so i bet the childrens homes are over flowing w/ little girls needing homes.

dont worry about names. have you ever seen someone that reminded you of someone>? maybe when you see the kid you'll think "hmmm, she looks like a Darcy" or "hmmm, he kinda acts like a John"
