Boot-To load the first piece of software that starts a computer. Because the operating system is essential for running all other programs, it is usually the first piece of software loaded during the boot process.
Boot is short for bootstrap, which in olden days was a strap attached to the top of your boot that you could pull to help get your boot on. Hence, the expression "pull oneself up by the bootstraps." Similarly, bootstrap utilities help the computer get started.
(n.) Short for bootstrap, the starting-up of a computer, which involves loading the operating system and other basic software. A cold boot is when you turn the computer on from an off position. A warm boot is when you reset a computer that is already on.

In computing, booting is a bootstrapping process that starts operating systems when the user turns on a computer system. A boot sequence is the set of operations the computer performs when it is switched on that load an operating system.
Most computer systems can only execute code found in the memory (ROM or RAM). Modern operating systems are stored on hard disks, or occasionally on LiveCDs, USB flash drives, or other non-volatile storage devices. When a computer is first powered on, it doesn't have an operating system in memory. The computer's hardware alone cannot perform complex actions such as loading a program from disk, so a paradox exists: to load the operating system into memory, one appears to need to have an operating system already loaded.
The solution to the paradox is to use a special small program, called a bootstrap loader or boot loader. This program's only job is to load other software for the operating system to start. Often, multiple-stage boot loaders are used, in which several small programs summon each other, until the last of them loads the operating system. The name bootstrap loader comes from the image of one pulling oneself up by one's bootstraps
Early programmable computers had a row of toggle switches on the front panel to allow the operator to manually enter the binary boot instructions into memory before transferring control to the CPU. The boot loader would then read the operating system in from an outside storage medium such as paper tape, punched card, or an old fixed head disk drive

When you turn on your computer, the BIOS (board basic input output system) loads BootStrap Program into memory and executes it.. its called booting, thats it
booting should be done because, computer doesnt know what to execute, hence the BIOS willl tell the computer to execute BootStrap Program

booting is a short-hand for bootstraping . boot strapping means commencing a complicated gadget from a less complicated one. it has diverse meaning in diverse context, e.g in compilers writing a compiler of language x in itself(language x). in computing words, bootstraping is commencing the OS from a less complicated boot code. in Ibm laptop, while a working laptop or laptop boots, rather some issues takes place at the back of the scene. once you turn on the laptop the BIOS cames into action, it performs diverse exams ,e.g memory count quantity, initializes registers, keyboard, different peripherals, like ide, video adapters. then lots the international 0 (time-honored as MBR-and contains bootloader) of your HDD into the memory, and flow the administration to this. now this piece of code keeps to load the OS put in on the device. this entire technique is time-honored as booting/boot strapping. once you install an OS , it over-rides the bootloader which would be used to load the OS, this way laptop-distributors adapted a greater loosely coupling between a device and its OS, i.e. by using shifiting responsiblity as nicely loader to load the OS, which (bootloader ) will itself loaded by using the BIOS,

I would think it is because when you start your computer it initilizes the boot files (boot.ini).
My guess.
