That is exactly true, Eisenhower sent the first adviser in to help the South Vietnam army. Kennedy kept up with this program, he also sent the first actual troops in, sea bees and such to build the infrastructure like air bases and such. Johnson escalated and sent a bunch of troops over there to fight and Nixon did a bunch of bombing before pulling the Americans out.

The U>S> had "advisors" there when Eisenhower was in office, then Kennedy but it was Johnson who committed over 500,000 troops then Nixon took 2 years to end the conflict. Nixon was voted into office by promising to end the war.

Starting with Harry Truman, supplies that were suppsed to be delivered to Okinawa for the invasion of Japan were deverted to Siagon in 1945 after we nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Eisenhower sent some advisors. Kennedy sent the Green Berets. Johnson sent everybody who could walk and Nixon sent the B-52s to get us out of it.

That's about right.. Kennedy (before he was shot) got us involved. Then good 'ol LBJ really got us involved. Then 'ol tricky Dick (Nixon) really, really got us involved.. till his re-election.. '72 I think.. just think.. pulling out of Viet Nam got him re-elected, then he quit! LOL
