A Republican believes in family values and ideals. The majority of them are probably religouse. They are conservative. They believe that you should keep a major portion of the money you earn. Many are avid pro-lifeers and many are pro-life except when the life of the mother is at risk, pregnancy was the result of rape or incest, or when it is a young child who might be emotionally scarred from having to carry a baby. The biggest reason to be a Republican is because those who represent you, from the school board member, to the state legislature, to your constitutional officers, to your Federal representatives have your values and ideals. In each state there are variations on the theme. You just have to look at your city, county, state and national elected officials and determine who most closely aligns with your values. Then stick with your decision and VOTE!

I'm an old white guy who is seriously considering jumping ship, after being a Republican for decades.
I'm tired of the party going in the other direction, in regards to civil rights, government intrusion in private lives, taxes, wars, no support for education, health or welfare of American citizens and a desire to impose a certain religious value on all of us.
The party used to be morally sound, without being preachy.
Now its "do as I say, not as I do".
And the Democratic party doesn't appeal to me - its waaaaaay off in left field.
I'd like to find a party that welcomes ALL people and all ideas on how we can work together and make America the great melting pot it once was.
Any suggestions?

I'm white ......my advice is to listen to your family.....their years make them wise. I see the Repuplicans as suppressing anybody that speaks up , is poor , or tries to get ahead . They work against the middle class/working class every time . They vote against raises in the minimun wage , and will destroy social security as we know it .
