Senators in the U.S. Senate hold elections every two years. There will be one this year and another in 2008. As for state senators, they vary. Michigan's state senators hold elections every four years; they're elected at the same time as the governor and serve 4-year terms concurrent with the governor's term of office. There will be an election this year and the following election will be in 2010.

I think most politicians manage to get pardons, or at least just probation, so he probably won't actually serve a term at all.
