What is this with everyone putting mashmellow bunnies in the?

Microwave and melting them down? My grand daughter says we had so much fun. How could that be fun to melt a marshmellow yellow bunnie in the microwave? What am I missing in this?

They puff up and go 'splody. Kids seem to like that kind of thing. I know I did when I was a kid, and when I've babysat my kid brother (seven years younger than me) or my much-younger cousins, I've found that Peeps in the microwave were good for half an hour of peace.
