y = (2/3)x - 3

Lines are parallel if they have the same slope.

the general equation for a line is y=mx+b where m = slope, b = y-intercept. Just plug in the given values for m & b

Y=2/3X-3
Y=mx+b, m is the slope so if both lines are parallel then they must have the same slope, and b is where the line crosses the Y-intercept.

equal slope means parallel

y intercept means crosses the y -axis at y=-3

with the slope and one point, use point-slope formula.

Y-Y1 = M(X-X1), where M = slope and (X1,Y1) = point

In this example, Y + 3 = 2/3 x

Or, in slope-intercept form: Y = 2/3 - 3
