Hi there;
For a formal occasion always remember these rules and you will never go wrong or wrongly dressed.
Spring time - while accessories
Fall time - black accessories
That means your gloves, shoes, and clutch purse should match as well.
Shoes for an evening formal are always cloth (satin or silk never leather)
Same for clutch purse - always cloth!
So from spring time to the last day of summer it's white.
From the first day of autumn to the last day of winter it's black.
The only time you can get away with matching the color of your shoes and purse with your dress is if your formal event takes place before 6:00 PM. OR... your invitation reads informal/semi-formal. After 6:00PM its strictly black tie unless stated as such on the invitations.
Hope you have a great time :)

I used to work for Macy's in NY as a visual design coordinator. My advice is to scrap the gloves altogether. Your dress seems powerful enough and would look great with a glittery bracelet. or wrist corsage in purple. If you MUST do the gloves, they should EXACTLY match the dress or be black.

White.
White is classy and also will go with everything.
You could even custome color white gloves as well if you wanted to have a perfect match to your dress. You can even re-wear them to another even or latter or change the color. White is even more availible, but try them on and see how you feel. Your opioion is most important to you.

Try to find gloves the same color of your dress. If your dress has a certain color glitter such as silver or gold, then wearing gloves of that color works also. If all else fails wear a black pair of gloves.

White most definetly, gloves a couple shade lighter than the dress, or maybe even silver

Black would be the best colour to wear as any other colour would just detract the viewers eyes from the colour of the dress.
Enjoy your prom.

Match the colour up, wear lilac ones to not make the dress look stupid.

it depends on how deep the purple is, for lilac go for white as it will contrast nicely!
for darker purple try gold.
hope it helps!
