Is Terry Schiavo's death a murder or convenience?

Terry Schiavo's death was a murder of convenience. The issue here has never been what were her mental faculties. Clearly she was responsive at least in a small sense to stimuli, there is video taped evidence of this.

Basically this comes down to two questions:

1. Is she alive?
2. Who decides how long she gets to live (after all, she is admittedly, in a diminished capacity)?

Very clearly, Mr. Schiavo was ready to move on with his life. He had met another woman, whom he had plans to marry, but could not marry until his marriage to Terry Schiavo was legally over. Terry's parents were willing to take on all responsibility for her care, and let Mr. Schiavo divorce her and release him from any further liability or responsibility. Mr. Schiavo would not go this route, he instead insisted on her death. I firmly believe there was guilt at play here, and that's the reason he was bent on Terry dying. His conscious would not let him marry another. So, he went to court and fought for and won the right to kill her.

Plainly and simply, Terry Schiavo is dead today not because of the mysterious medical condition that brought her to the state she was in, but because one man decided she needed to die. She clearly would have went on to live for who knows how long, as long she was being fed regularly through her tube. I realize living the way Terry was is very hard, and not a way I would presume any of us would choose to live for ourselves. However, she was alive, even if it was a diminished capacity.

Life in all of its forms and conditions is sacred, and must therefore, be protected by law and because it is the the right thing to do.

The postmortem examination showed that she had no mental processes whatsoever. Should ex post facto determination be decisive? Should the mere possibility of mental facility dictate the expenditure of vast sums of public money?

In my opinion, she had been dead since shortly after her collapse. Unfortunately, it took years before the legal system allowed her to body to finish dying as her brain had been dead for years.
