Since I started taking it I've gained a bunch of weight and I had stayed at the same weight for two years, I also getting really emotional and cry over stupid stuff. Just wonder if anyone has had the same stuff happen and any suggestions on a better birth control.

i hate depo. too many unpleasant side effects. weight gain, abnormal bleeding, depression... the list goes on. birth control options are highly individual and you gave absolutely no information so it is hard to say what is "better" for you. different women want different things from birth control. since you are on depo i am going to make a guess that you want something convenient and long term that you do not have to remember daily. ask your doctor about an iud. btw, the side effects from depo can last far longer than the 3 mos you are guaranteed for birth control, so dont worry if things are not quite back to normal for the next year to 18 months, that can be expected with depo

Yea I was on it to and if you read the little insert that the dr. should have gave you it says that weight gain is a possible side effect. As far as the over emotional issue...You do know the depot shot has hormones it right? Because that will make you over emotional.
I recommend getting a different form of B.C. because I have had bad luck on the depot shot..cysts rupture things of that nature so ...just becarefull on it.

I took that for a while because a friend told me she stopped getting her period on it. It was a total nightmare for me. No type of birth control makes you gain weight (they just decided last year that thats bogus). BUT i do remember I was a wreck, and crying, and I almost never got break from my period. Total nightmare. Demulen (pills) was great for me. Ortho tricyclen (or whichever ortho is best for you) was good too. I've stopped taking birth control, but the nuvra ring looks great. Stay away from the patch though. They actually have lawsuits.

Yep, I put on weight and became quite moody. I also got pregnant !

Depo ruined my life. I gained a ridiculous amount of weight and my skin is now horrible. Please discontue using it.
