I used to have the same feeling....a lack of energy.

I had a complete physical and the whole bit.

My doctor told me that there were 5 basic things to do to increase my (or any ones) energy

1] exercise - both aerobic and anaerobic
2] balanced diet
3] 6-8 hours of sleep (REM sleep)
4] a daily multi-vitamin
5] drink plenty of water (the usual 8 glasses /8 oz per day)

He said to avoid short acting stimulants that could cause building up a tolerance to their use (similar to using more & more narcotics) such as....

1] drinks with caffeine (soda, coffee, tea)
2] OTC drugs such as NO-DOZE or AWAKE pills containinh 200mg per tablet
3] short acting "energy drinks such as Red Bull
4] Gatorade...because it was developed to replace electrolytes and salts & not to increase energy

I spent 18 months in IRAQ working 12 - 15 hours per day, 7 days a week in temperatures reaching up to 136 degrees outside of Baghdad and found that the 5 ways my doctor told me to increase my energy level worked exceedingly well.

Eight hours of sleep more than that is too much and can have the same effect as not enough. Exercise. Some form of protien in every meal you eat. And the most important factor water. Not enough water in your diet can wear you down. If you are doing all this and taking vitamins with iron you need to see a doctor. You may have anemia which will need to be treated.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. I could not stay awake nor gather enough energy to go to the grocery store This went on for about a year. Finally I asked my Dr. for some vitamin pills and he suggested a sleep test. Even though I thought I was sleeping I actually stopped breathing 62 times per hour and so my body would waken just enough to make me breath and that took away my REM sleep. Rem is absolutely necessary to be able to rest. Talk to your Dr. about this.

If you are just tired today then try a few of these......A nice cool drink with a bit of caffeine, a bath or shower, jumping jacks. If you have been tired alot lately you might wanna see a doctor or get some more sleep....or better sleep.

Alot of times we are tired because we are dehydrated. Try drinking some smart water it has electrolytes in it which will help rehydrate you alot faster than regular bottled water.

I would suggest taking a multi vitamin with extra b in it. B vitamines are depleted when you are stressed. My husband I started taking extra B vitamins and we now have extra energy. Good luck!
