I am not sure what "jax fl" is, but I certainly know Sarah Vaughn!
I would take care to not to try and "interpret" the piece.
Build some phrases through improvisation.
I think the most difficult choices will be when to connect to the audience.
If I could suggest .. and only suggest .. you might keep the movement introspective until the verse --
Poor butterfly
'Neath the blossoms waiting.
Poor Butterfly
For she loved him so.
Look at the audience for that verse alone.
And then once again for the last line ...
But if he won't come back then I'll never sigh or cry,
I just must die.
Poor butterfly.
Maybe turn your back on "poor butterfly" on the last line. I'm not sure, that may be too dramatic -- do you get a black out at the end?
I know I said don't interpret -- in this I mean don't fall into the lyrical or liturgical trappings of using the words to imply meaning into the movement.
I think hyper-distortion of shape might help express the angst of the piece.
And I think being perfectly still for the first would be powerful, begin moving on "poor butterfly is her name."
Just some guesses, hopefully that will get you going!
Merde!

There are many matters that may make a work of choreography intriguing. My historical past in dance is almost always classical ballet. I like classical ballet portions, however I relatively like to peer different portions; jazz, modern day, ballroom. I love whilst to peer shapes that are not mostly used. (I do not know if that makes so much experience.) Such as convolsion, whilst dancers begin status up and them the entire surprising they simply begin throwing the whole lot and subsequent factor you already know they are at the flooring. Fall and restoration, random jumps. I relatively like whilst I'm caugh off gaurd through the choreography. Such as whilst the dancers are running around the flooring after which the entire surprising all of them fall. I relatively like while you see folks operating in combination, lifting each and every different, aiding each and every different, crawling by way of each and every others legs. Another factor to appear for is having exceptional agencies doing exceptional matters at exceptional instances. it is relatively super whilst folks do turns and no longer drive that final one out due to the fact that they're intended to. Great manner will consistently be anything I appear for in a work, it doesn't matter what kind. Another factor to appear at is are the dancers connecting with the tune. Even if the dancers have exceptional manner and execute the whole lot flawlessly, if they do not connect to the tune and the viewers, the piece is often useless. Hope this is helping!

I am a professional instructor and I specialize in modern (Humphrey based). This is usually how I put together a piece when I find myself stuck. Go through what you have already got. Divide your work into small sections. Then take a section and make a variation from it, i.e. change the tempo, change the level, do it backwards, etc. Modern dance doesn't have strict rules so you have the freedom to do anything. Small changes to a sequence can look like an entirely new concept, so play around with speed and direction. Good luck!

Offer to pay a college dance major $10 per hour to see what you've got so far and give you feedback. Look up your nearest college dance program and send an email to the dance department or the head of the department. Ask if they'd post a notice for you or forward your message to the dance majors. Specify in your message that choreography experience is required. Such a notice should elicit several responses. Pick the student who seems to have had the most choreography experience, preferably a junior or senior. If they've had a choreography class in college, then they have experience in giving feedback and ideas.

PLEASE READi have been DANCING FOR 3 YEARS and now i make my own choreography moves . this is how i do it... just put on the song or type of music on (perferably by yourself if you are shy) and just let lose at try to let your body move with the music and or the beat. when you hear a certain part of a song and you feel like jumping jump. your body will naturally start going with the music. there will be certain parts of any song be it have words or not that will trigger you and or your brain to dip or twist or whatever at that certain part and it will just feel right and it will feel like it fits.it is like sign lauguage. to tell person(s) what yu want to tell them without word...you must let your hand(or for danceing your body) tell them what you are sayiing without a single word
