I am exactly the same way! I don't eat when i'm stressed(well i eat then too), but always when i'm bored. I solved it by going shopping. buy air popped popcorn, with no butter or salt. Try to get the snack packs. Gum is also a good idea. Sometimes it's more the habit of chewing and hand movement. I bought myself a mini step and flex from sharper image, so that i could work out while watching TV. The best thing you can do to stop eating when your bored is to go out and do something. if it's late, find a hobby that includes your hands...like model building(i love making model rockets, because you can lunch them). Set rules for yourself.
I'll only snack after I go for a walk.
I'll only eat in the kitchen
I'll only have 3 snacks a day
I won't eat after midnight or two hours before bed(when your metabolism slows while getting ready for hiberantion)
I'll walk for 20 minutes a day.

Little things like that make a huge differnence.

Why are you bored? Do you have nothing to do? Is your job boring? Or is it school? First of all, you need to take care of your boredom. Find something you like doing, something that engages your mind. Keep active so you don't get bored. In the meantime, what about keeping some healthy snacks with you at all times, so if you do end up reaching for food, you're not putting junk in your body. Or you can drink water to help fill you up.

If you take the advice of chewing gum, make sure it doesn't have aspartame in it, because that triggers your appetite.

When I am bored and feel like eating, I get online and chat, because it keeps my fingers busy, and I keep my computer far away from the kitchen.

There are lots of delicious healthy snacks. Try celery sticks with peanut butter or cheese on them, or a carrots dipped in ranch dressing.

Good luck, I know how tough it is.

Don't purchase any more junk food. When it's not in your house you can't eat it.

Purchase a big bag of baby carrots and also a bag of celery sticks. Buy a bag of nuts like pecans, walnuts, almonds, etc.

Buy some fresh fruit. Put all this stuff out on the counter in bowls or jars or on a handy shelf in your fridg. Also get some yogurt and granola to mix into it.

When you want to snack just reach for these items instead of junk food.

Unfortunately it's nothing anyone else can do for you it's something only you can do for yourself. If you're bored your got to get a hobby or find ways to keep yourself busy. I assume you have alot of time on your hands because you're bored. If you are seriously overweight you need to contact your family physician and go the safe way. You can also look into your local WYCA they have really cheap memberships that way you can keep yourself busy and lose weight at the same time.

When I needed to eat right I used the Raw Food Diet. (Forgot the author, but you can get it from the library...). You can eat everything you want so long as it's fruit and veggies. After you eat, you have to wait about 30 minutes before you eat again (for friut) and an hour after veggies, 3 hours after dairy, and meat only at night. You can drink water and tea, sometimes red wine, but the trick is to separate all the food groups. It goes through your system faster, helps you burn fat and you can eat as much as you want.
It reccommends that you excersize, but I never did that...I also never went to extremes with this diet...If you read the book, it'll tell you everything you need to know.

Chew gum, drink water, sign up for activities that will keep you busy, instead of sitting around so much go on a run or walk. There are many things you can do if you think about it. Good luck though. ;)

Eat foods that are higher in fiber, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, brown rice, protein. Mix berries with high fiber cereal and plain yogurt. Exercise will reduce your stress level, and reducing stress will probably lessen your desire to overeat. Clear out any trigger foods from your home and re-stock with healthy foods only. Eat your vegetables raw or lightly cooked.

If your bored then do something active like go outside and sit on the porch or take a walk. When my kids say their bored, I hand them a washrag and tell them to get to work. It's amazing how active outside they become when faced with the possibility of cleaning. LOL

Yeah, what that person said.

For some reason, when I chew gum I get a full feeling.

I also chew my food and spit it out, when I do feel like eating.

It kind of ends my cravings for it.
