I'm a Divorce attorney. Rather than search for him it's usually easier and quicker to serve him by publication in a newspaper circulated in the area where you last knew him to be residing. If you pick the right newspaper, something small with not so wide of a distribution (not the New York Times), its very affordable and efficient in allowing you to proceed with your Absolute Divorce.

There are no guarantees you could find him even with the internet. Try zabasearch.com Prepare to have to put an ad in the paper to pleasse the courts if necessary to show proof that you tried to locate him.

if you do not know where he is then you can go ahead w/out serving him anything. Place ads in newspaper law classified sections of your hometown and newspapers of towns you think he may be.
This is the legal way to go about it, but talk to your lawyer to get all the details

Try to type out his full name, or parts of his name in search engines, i.e.: Google. Something can come up which will make you go 'This is him!'.
Can you remember any nicknames he always uses? Google it. Chances are, some stuff will come up.
Also, try friendster, myspace and other social networking sites. You'll surely find him there. Unless he changes his name, you can get hold of someone who knows him.

Your attorney can post the decree in the papers. It takes a bit longer, but will still be considered uncontested.

in the US if you do not know where he is your lawyer can put an ad in the local papers for a period of time. then you can proceed with the divorce anyway.
