It makes verry little difference what kind of bait you use, but it makes all the diffrence where you place the trap, The trap (sticky or snap trap) it makes no diffrence. Place the trap beside a wall
not out from, but along side the wall where they are more likly run, when then move they like to stay close to a wall. What ever bait you use if it is cheese or lunch meat tie it on (with a piece of sewing thread) the trigger so he must work to get it off. Good Luck

Traditionally cheese was the best bait for rats. Now, I think they have some kind of new chemical bait that reportedly works better.I would contact a professional on this.

I managed a pet store and we used to have rats that got out all the time. We used to use Marshmellows to catch them. If you are looking to kill one use a rat trap and marshmellows with peanut butter.

I've found that peanut butter works well. Also, when I had pet rats, they loved carrots! You might try that.

Cheese works really well believe it or not. It needs to be real cheese, not velveeta or anything like that. You want to use a smelly cheese.
