Since you say play in the final it's the 1991 Minnesota North Stars, but they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In the Penguins first of back to back wins.

The 1936-37 New York Rangers were the first sub .500 team to play in the final
The 1937-38 Chicago Black Hawks were the first sub .500 team to win the Stanley Cup (The 1948-49 Toronto Maple Leafs also accomplished this feat)
