I was reading a response to a question, in this section, and the person stated that while he was gay he did not participate in anal sex. Then explain to me what makes a gay man gay if it is not the sexual act itself.... I mean if the thoughts are there and are never acted upon, that does not make or validate the gayness, right?

Ok...imagine meeting your soul mate? That one person that you can bond to and relate to like no other person in this word. That person is the one that you have never loved like any human before. This is what love and relationships are all about. It's not about who sticks what where! There is more to "being gay" than sex just like in herto relationships. It's not all about a good roll in the sheets. Look beyond the genitals, my friend.

Assuming that this is a legitimate question, here goes.
Anal sex is not a gay sexual act. Many gay people engage in it, but so do many straight people. Many people, straight, gay and in-between find it unpleasant and choose not to engage in it.
A person is gay if he or she exclusively or nearly exclusively is attracted to members of his or her own gender. This attraction is often, if not always both emotional and physical. I could be gay, and not engage in ANY sex acts. Some days it feels like that's what I'm doing! But there are many alternatives to anal sex, common folklore (common in both the gay and straight communities) is that gay men are engaging in anal sex all the time. Just not true!

The term gay is not a "sexual act". It doesn't make you gay because you do not engage in certain sexual acts. What makes you gay is your attraction to someone of the same sex. No matter if you are a married man with a wife and children; the thought of you wanting to be with another man is what makes still makes you gay.

I agree with you, you have gotten some really good answers here. * Thank God for the Smarter Ones* When I read the question I changed the gender and related instanly. As stated,,, in a lesbian relationship one would assume that there is ALWAYS oral sex. However, there arr some women who do not receive oral sex (I wasn't talking about myself,, lol). Some simply prefer to give and still quite enjoy themselves in being with a woman. So this in reverse does not seem so odd or strange,,, you just gotta think about it a little :-)

If your a man, having sexual thoughts about men means your gay or you have gay tendancies. I don't think the actual act has anything to do with it. Afterall, a virgin presumably wants to have sex, just b/c they haven't doesn't mean that there asexual. They have probably picked a preference (or both) somewhere along the way but haven't acted on it yet.

Being gay is not all about sex. I know gay men who do not partake in anal sex. Just because he doesn't have anal sex doesn't mean he's not gay, there are other options. Just as there are some lesbians that never receive from their partners, they only give.

I am homosexual and I do not do anal sex. I am g0y we dont do anal or effeminate behavior. We do not gender bend. We are men who love men not men pretending to be women. We still have sexual expression with our buds though. So we are definately homosexual or bisexual.
LOL
That's my girl Jayelle she knew I would be here. LOL

He'll probably come along to explain shortly.
But think about it for two seconds. There is oral sex, manual sex (with the hands), rubbing...
Also, not every person is going to like every thing that they can possibly do with someone they love. That doesn't make them love the other person any less or be any less attracted to that person. I know straight women who think oral sex is gross and degrading. They don't love their husbands or boyfriends any less, and they aren't any less straight.

What if you were straight but did not enjoy sex because of a medical condition or something - wouldn't you still be straight?
