I just started to follow up on news because I am taking Civics and obviously need to be aware of our nation's news in order to effectively pass this course. However, I cannot remember if the law about letting two men get married to one another was approved and passed and whether or not there has been any marriages of such yet. Would anyone just give me a brief 411 on this? Thank you so much!

Does anyone else think it is weird that the only state that allows gays to marry has the word a.s.s in it.

It depends on the laws within each state. A homosexual couple could legally get married (a state that allows it or another country) but LEGALLY no other state has to recognize the marriage as legal.
Furthermore, MOST states will not legally marry Homosexuals, though MOST states have officiants open-minded enough to do "commitment ceremonies" (non-legally binding wedding ceremonies) AND MANY insurance companies will now cover committed partners regardless of sexual preference/status.

All I have to say is gay marriages should not exist. Let them love and be loved by another of their choosing, Let them have some sort of ceremony in a gay approved 'church' by whomever they chose, let them draw up some sort of contract that allows them the benefits of their partner and their partners employers benefits (ins, 401k, etc....) let them have legal binding contract in that sense, but DO NOT CALL IT MARRIAGE!!! Marriage is between a man and a woman for the procreation of the species......gays and lesbians cannot do that naturally.
