It's possible. A lot of it depends on heredity. Some people are just prone to have higher cholesterol levels even if they're doing everything they should be doing to lower their cholesterol levels. However, even the most extreme cases of high cholesterol can usually be controlled by proper diet and exercise.
Here's a list of things to avoid as much as possible:
-- Saturated fat
-- Trans fat (partially or fully hydrogenated oils)
-- Refined flour/sugar
-- High fructose corn syrup (soft drinks, sports drinks, fruit drinks)
Here's a list of things that will help:
-- Fiber (aim for a minimum of 25g per day)
-- EPA fish oil capsules, 1,000 mg (take six per day)
-- Nuts, any kind
-- Olive oil
-- Flax seed
Good luck!

Cholesterol is a very important substance for the body. The liver creates every day 350mg. of it. Cholesterol is the base for many Steroids without it the body cannot produce hormones neither testosterone etc. But just one egg contain more than 325mg. The animal fat is the root cause for high cholesterol. Avoid vegetable oil. Maximum oil you can consume a day is ½ teaspoon of it. That all, try to get it from olives or fish (salmon). Don’t fry any food only bake it. For breakfast eat oats and consume garlic and onions it reduces cholesterol. Watch your diet and take internally 6 hawthorn berry capsules and 6 chaparral capsules daily for 5 days. Walk for 45 minutes daily. And drink fresh lemon juice and grape juice it’s very good for you. Take a Ginseng tablet if you don’t have inflammation or fever it also reduces cholesterol. Eat lot of vegetables and greens cut down on pasta and bread or rice since all starch can store as fat in the body. If you avoid fat and exercise regularly you don't need to.

No, but there are better ways to cut cholesterol. Safer. Watch how much fat you eat, get lots of fiber in your diet, and exercise. Start small and increase as you can. High cholestrol is not as bad as its rap. We all have cholesterol and we all need it. It is only when it gets way high that you need to worry. Many of these drug companies what to sell you there drugs and you don't need them. If your young don't even worry. If you old start changing your lifestyle and it will come dowm guaranteed.

Not necessarily, through proper diet, exercise and vitamins you may be able to come off of the medicine after 6 months or more. Whatever you do make sure that you refer to a physician before discontinuing any medicines.
