i guess it was my fault for downloading Limewire (and then later after uninstalling Limewire, iMesh)... but i ain't got money to be spending $20+/- on CDs when i only want certain songs. Anyway, i guess i got some bad songs in my computer now and it put all these damn pop-ups in it... AND it runs a little slower, too. I already have Ad-Aware on here and every time before or after i turn the computer on or off, i gotta Ad-Aware it. That kinda helps but the pop-ups are ****** irritating. How do I fix this damn problem? What do i gotta do or get to make my downloading experience better? HA!

Reboot into SAFE mode and run your Anti-virus scan. Yes, this should take an hour or so.

You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs. (You have Ad-aware, so get SpyBot also).

cleaning this adware/spyware can be challenging. I do it manually. I use some tools though, one of them is autoruns from sysinternals.com. It will show you everything that loads on your machine automatically. You will have to go through that and decide which is wanted and which not. You will have to google a lot. Once identified, you will have to remove the entries from registry and files and folders from your machine. I can't give you any more specific advice, this is pretty much the whole process.

This is more effective in safe mode (F8 during the boot, pick safe mode with networking)

Go to Start>Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall what you can there. If they won't uninstall, you will get them later.

Do the free scan

Download AdAware and SpyBOT (available at http://download.com )
Install, update, scan and remove anything they find.

Update and run your virus scanner http://free.grissoft.com if you need one.

Defrag the drive, reboot in normal mode and rescan to make sure you got it all.
Download and install all Windows updates when you are done. (Internet Explorer > Tools > Windows Updates)

Nice language...that'll get your question removed pretty quick.

Get Windows Defender, Spybot S&D, and HiJack This.
