I was born the year he was elected so I was around but not really with it ya know I was more into uh sleeping..So from what Ive seen he was an alzheimers ridden old man who destroyed the economy with reaganomics and helped spread aids through his ignorance of the disease, and really did no one any favors with this stupid war on drugs nonsense. So why does the republican party hold him up as a shining example of what a president should be?

Of course you don't remember the Soviet Union then, right? You "know" all these other "facts", though, right? You're a fine example of a belligerent young Democrat.
One question - how does Reagan contribute to the spread of aids? You must be one of those "Everything is Bush's Fault" morons - don't preach about ignorance until you have yours under control.
Clinton had many opportunities to kill Bin Laden and snuff out al quada. When Reagan was in office the main threat to the US was the Soviet Union, not al quada. I'm sure if he knew what was going to happen 20 years down the road, he would have taken care of them too. FDR was an ally of Stalin and basically handed him almost half of Germany. FDR and Stalin were allies against a greater evil - Nazi Germany. The US gave aid to the Afghans against a greater evil - the Soviets. Politics makes strange bedfellows - ever heard of that one? FDR did what he had to do and is heralded as a great President, even though the Soviets rose up immediately following the war. We just dealt with the Soviets later although in retrospect we should have taken them out then. Reagan did what he had to do, and there was no indication at the time of what was to come. Clinton, who is heralded by the left as a Godsend, didn't do what should have been done when given the chance. Don't blame Reagan for that. Hell - Iran had the hostages during the abomination that was called Jimmy Carter and didn't release them until Reagans inauguration. Carter didn't do anything except send in an ill equipt aborted rescue mission which killed a number of US servicemen.
As far as your statement aboud Reaganomics and aids - the economy was excellent during the Reagan years - he had to deal with the mess left by Carter. Aids was a new phenomena in the early and mid 80's. When it was realized how bad it could potentially be, it got plenty of press. The war on drugs has always been important - how many drug users get aids? Don't blame him for aids - it wasn't his fault. I just don't get your logic.

Actually, it was President Reagan's economic policies that have led, not single-handedly of course, to the incredible growth of the United States economy.
Also, he ended that ugly little war we in the U.S like to call the Cold War. Yes, he did it by driving us into debt, but many economists say that it is not a bad thing to have a revolving debt balance and we could not have had the unprecedented economic expansion without it.
Not to mention, the fall of a communist country in the USSR. Obviously none of these things were done by him alone, but he had and his advisors had the ideas and he was in power to put those ideas into practice.
And as far as AIDS goes, it was very new and no one knew anything about it. Even if he did let people die of AIDS, what could he have done differently? The science isn't there today to cure AIDS, 20 years later. What could he possible have done? You people give him too much credit thinking that he could have saved so many AIDS victims.
Also, he did not get Alzheimer's until he was out of office. It would be nice if you new the facts before spouting of at the mouth with worthless dribble. And you said it yourself that you were sleeping through his administration, so maybe now its time to go back and read a damn history book or encyclopedia. You'll be able to find those at your local library in the REFERENCE section...if you know where the library is.

Republicans love the fact that Reagan cut back social classes and extra beneficial protection spending. in addition they love the conservative biographies that have been written various years after Reagan's presidency that falsely credit Reagan with defeating the Soviet Union because of the fact he suggested "tear down this wall, Mr. Grobachev," and spent billions on a ineffective protection equipment spoke of as celebrity wars. Republicans have faith that those revisionist histories that paint Reagan because of the fact the excellent president on the grounds that Washington, are the gospel fact.

First and foremost Ronald Reagan was the man who ended the cold war!
He did not lust for power like most politicians. He saw himself as a simple citizen who was called upon to help the nation he so loved. He made his mission to free his fellow citizens from an invasive federal government, and to rid the world of Communism. He did just that. By increasing our military build up at a phenomenal rate, he forced the Soviet Union to try and compete and basically crashed their economy.
He was feared and respected by world leaders. I find it amazing that the day Ronald Reagan was sworn in, the American hostages who were being held in Iran--were freed (after 444 days of captivity during Carter's dismal reign.) He was known as the Great Communicator. He spoke eloquently and express the grief of the nation in the aftermath of the Challenger disaster.
He was a man of strength and integrity. Reagan believed in the promise of the American Dream. He lived it. He left the White House with the highest approval rating ever for a two term modern day president.
God Bless Ronald Reagan!

At first It was simply a party promotion of a aging man Then they started build a legacy for him and it started snowballing.
By the 2008 Republican Convention they will be saying he raised the dead.
So what gets me is Joan Quigley the Sorceress from San Francisco was making all the decisions. Why doesn't someone from the Satan Worshiper religion start claiming how they ended communism.

Most Reagan supporters today point to his role in ending the Cold War. And in the years following Reagan's presidency, Rush Limbaugh has made it one of his missions in life to prove that Reagan's economic policies were directly responsible for the boom we had in the 1990's. And the conservatives who believe him just eat it up.

Enough time has passed for people to forget what a nincompoop he was, and so they have heralded him to hero status. He was horrible, trust me.
Another example of this would be Rudi Giuliani. He was hated, literally by most people in New York. I know, I lived there and saw some of his "reforms"... 9/11 happens, and all of a sudden he is an angel, just for doing his job. Now he is a hero. Bull-S-h-i-t.

1: He lowered taxes on income of people trying to get ahead from 70 per cent by two thirds. Many poeple were better off economically. They were no longer punished as much for trying to get ahead. The whole national economy improved, helping everybody including those who did not try to improve.
2: He did not quaver before Communist threats but stood up to them, causing Communism to collapse. This saved trillions of dollars in military expenses, and reduced to almost zero the threat of World War III.

He also sold arms to Iran, which was against the law, in order to provide funding for rebels against an elected government in Nicaragua, which was against the law, placed mines in the harbors of that country, which was certainly against our law and international law, and other dishonorable and unlawful acts. Nonetheless, when the GOP honors the current President for falsifying intelligence, ignoring the Constitution, and the like, it is natural that they would also think highly of a criminal buffoon like Reagan.

He was an actor.
He was used, sometimes he forgot his lines.
The Repubs are now using another actor names Schwartzenagger to try to turn california into a republican state, so they can win every presidential election.
They use actors because they believe Americans are ignorant.
