By definition, "native" Americans did not come to America. Those who came to America are called "immigrants." You are probably speaking of "American Indians." I'll agree that most of them are truly "native Americans" because they were born here. But by the same token, I claim to be a native American because I was born here. Of course their immigrant ancestors arrived earlier than mine, but that's another story. I imagine that both their immigrant ancestors and mine came here for the same reason -- they hoped to find a better life.

Because humans have always wandered, many cultures were nomadic before we all took up residence someplace. People just likely followed the food they needed to survive. Then after being here for thousands of years, people had adapted well and probably diverged in genetics from the original people who came here and were officially the Native people of this country.

Native Americans are just that....."native". They were here first. They are indigenous to this land.
Your question should be, "Why did Europeans come to America?"

one must do some research on migrations...
migrations go back as far as the ice age and further. so far it's known that the euro's were in america before the indians that we now call the originators of the soil.
who knows.. just the archaeological findings can tell us i suppose.
migrations happen no matter the continent.
google.com it.
