Mr. Foley seems to have been molested as a child by his church leader. How is that supposed to make it ok to write ludicrous e-mails to a teenager. He was having a good old time, now all the sudden he is like a deer caught in the head lights.
Do you think he will retire a wealthy politician? He kind of reminds me of Jimmy Swaggert who was caught several years ago with a prostitute.

The modern form of a politician is a spineless coward who hides behind his or her authority until they get caught, then they scream like babies and try to blame everyone else for their misdeeds.

Long gone are the days when we had Politicians who had the spine to walk into a run down neighborhood and scream out "The president is here, I am your president, and we're going to fix this."

All politicians are scum. We need a new breed of politician who ISN'T a politician for president.

First of all, no one, Republican or Democrat, in their right mind, whould justify the actions of Foley because he was molested himself. He is under attack (rightfully) and he is trying to protect himself (Not successfully). It dosen't suprise me that he is not being a man about it, if he had high standards and morals, would he be propositioning children in the first place? No. I think that his career is over, and the shame of his scandal will not be comforted by money. Jimmy Swaggert wasn't a politician, and EVERYONE has their own personal demons, we are all held accountable for our actions, and you are right, religious men are held to a higher standard because they know better, but I don't think that Foley was a religious man. However, when religous people fall, it should not elicit glee from non religious people. All that shows is hatred.

I think that it's natural for anybody to immediately try and justify whatever wrong they were doing. He's looking for sympathy and an excuse. I chalk it up to our tendancies as humans. I hope this doesn't make it seem like I'm ok with what he was doing. I wish they'd throw his behind in prison and make him rot there - there's nothing more disgusting than sexual perversion.

They have to save face somehow. The real question here is at that point in time, who would believe them? Too little too late.
