Hail to the Chief. Polk's wife started the tradition of playing the song when the president entered a room. She was distressed at the lack of ceremony and respect when the president entered White House functions. The song lyrics are actually from Scotts Lady of the Lake. Funny thing is they are the lyrics sung after the Scottish king is asassinated. Kind of ironic.

"Hail to the Chief" is played for the US President, regardless of his quality or lack thereof, whereever he appears in public. Not just getting off a plane.
