I recently tiled my bathroom wall and did not wipe off excess grout immediately, it has now hardened and will not come off with scrubbing and water.

Try the green panscrubbers, they're quite tough.
Water should soften the grout if it is less than about two weeks old.

That's why they instruct you to wipe off the grout while it's still wet! Why didn't you heed this most basic instruction? You might try a plastic scrapper and see if you can "pop" the dried grout off the tile. Some say the use of a good penitrating oil can also help to loosen the grout on the tile, but you should seal the grout between the tiles before you try anything like this, or else the grout in between will absorb the oil and then you won't be able to seal.

first of all i could be calling the tiler and tell him again restore my wall because of the fact he did a detrimental activity. He would desire to actual come back and connect it if it has in easy terms been finished for a week. The grout is moist once you're making use of. you utilize a tribulation device to gentle it in between the tile. Wipe the surplus off. enable it set for approximately 30 minutes. pass back with a humid sponge. Get as a good number of the water out of the sponge as achieveable. and wipe off any grout left over. It takes 24 hours to set. It would not truly count huge form which way you placed it on, it might all be gentle so which you will no longer tell contained in the tip which way it develop into utilized. desire this permits. I certainly have tiled my kitchen, my mothers kitchen, and each and all the bogs in my homestead and hers. it truly is exciting.

Id be cautious about using acids or scrapers as these could damage the finish of the tile. Id be tempted to try a steamer. Like you would use for stripping wallpaper but with a different nozzle. Steam under pressure might just loosen it enough for it to be scrubbed off with a plastic bristled brush

A glass scraper works great. I had the same problem when I tiled my bathroom, and none of the chemicals seemed to work, so I tried the glass scraper (careful not to dig into the tile and scratch it), then use a non-scrath scouring pad with soap and water to clean up the residue. Good luck!

Is it the grout or the adhesive that you forgot to wipe off, whichever it was will be hard work once any chemical reaction has set in, plenty of elbow grease should help the removal process.

did you know that the best thing to tile on is tiles....you can just get some tiles and tile over....or, spend ages trying to melt down the bloody grout. I suggest scraping it, but that will only damage the tiles. Best thing to do, is tile over, so simple, it is what all the tilers do...or, spend days saving your old rotten grouted tiles, cost a fortune, had the same problem. just tiled over.

No, do not scrape with a BBQ scraper.... you can get an acid specifically for that purpose - in the tile section. BTW... we did the same thing - what a pain!!!
