I did some genealogy a while back and I found that many records were in the library on microfilm. My library's genealogy section also had some funeral home records. If you know the date and are willing to search, you can check newspaper records on microfiche at the library. If you do not know the date it will be harder. Does your family have a Bible. I would think the more info you have, the better your case will be.

I would give you the archives Web site links from our research files that the state has provided to the public answering your question but yahoo answers says that providing links with the proper answers to questions is spamming and using the source of where those links come from is advertising and they rather just have written answers from sources that are not qualified to provide such answers.
