I've always been a fan of X-Men comics, and yeah, I'd like to see a super hero movie where the heroes wear masks. But for Wolverine, I always wondered why he wore one in the first place. It seems out of character for him, seeing as how he's a loner, and doens't have a family or identity to protect. The X-films should have been a lot better. I could go on all day about how they handled the characters of Rogue, Juggernaut, Jean, Cyclops, and a bunch of others all wrong.

Nahh....from a purely practical standpoint, if you've got a bunch of beautiful people playing the roles, you (A) want to see their faces, and (B) need to let them express their emotions to tell the story.

And from the perspective of the movie "universe", they weren't running around doing "superhero-y" things like rescuing people, and didn't really have much of a life outside of the school, so no secret identities to protect.

I think the idea of Hugh Jackman covering up his face is a crime. I think that the Wolverine costume should be re-worked to be more of a yellow speedo with blue suspenders and black leather boots. Hmmmm. Yup, sounds good. Maybe a cute little blue leather collar with my name engraved on it. Yeah, thats the ticket!

I don't think it was needed. Masks in movies just don't always work, the exception to that being V for Vendetta.
