suffer ( in most states you can get a registration for a non-running/non-roadable vehicle this cancels your tags and your insurance company can insure it for value only which meets the requirements of your loan - in other words no liability or uninsured motorist coverage required ) contact the following and get some real info
#1 the lender
#2 the state DMV
#3 the insurance co.

there is a solution and these calls will help you find it

Sorry, your stuck, It might have been tight but you should have bought a new car with a warranty. Never buy a used car on credit, always cash only.

When I was younger and bought used cars I'd just save up 1k and go find one with working A/C and buy it. If it lasted me a year or two, I figured I got my money out of it.

You're best chance now is to go out and find the cheapest new car you can and see if they'll roll over the loan and use the intrepid as a trade-in, which will mean higher payments for you, but you'll at least have a car.

Or find someone willing to fix the car for you with no labor costs.

Oh dear mommy 2 be, I am sooo sorry for you. I too am the misfortunate owner of a 2000 Intrepid 63,000 miles with a dead engine. Just happened last week. I owe 2 yrs worth of payments (over five grand) and will spend another two grand in insurance & registration during that time period just to keep it parked in front of my house. It angers me to no end that Dodge knows about this rampant nationwide probelm and will not accept any responsibility. I called them today and was basically told, "Sorry you're screwed, but have a nice day".

Did you buy it from an individual or a dealer? If it was a dealer I'd be going right back to them for a new engine! If it was an individual I would contact the attorney general and see if there is any way that chrysler would be responsable for repairing. Who told you about the engines blowing up? You have your work cut out for you that is for sure. Keep me posted I will ask around and see if my sister knows anything she is a paralegal. Keep your chin up!

there isnt much you can do .. but to pay the loan or have bad credit by not paying it .. you may want to buy a house some day or need another loan in the future .. so my advise is to just pay the loan... if you dont pay the loan and it is an auto loan not a personal loan they will repo the car but that may take 6 months for them to do that,.. congrats on the baby though

check to see if there was a recall on this model and also check your State laws on Lemons and if posible as the previous owner and see if he had a problem and the dealer was aware of it. You may have a dealer warrenty or a law in your State that protects you.

You have no choice but to pay for it and the full coverage is a requirement of the lender. That won't change.

You are really stuck with the payment cause insurance company considers the car theirs until it is paid off.
