I just happen to be a nurse, and there is no way a bladder spasm can push the bulb of a foley catheter out of the bladder. She must be doing something to make it come out and if she has pulled on it enough times, she has stretched her urethra. You need to increase the size of the catheter to maybe a 18 french with a bigger bulb like maybe a 20 cc bulb. She is creating a problem and is going to end up with a severe UTI. which by the way is a co morbidity to morbid obesity.
Hospital RN x 12 yrs and work with many bariatric cases and too many foley catheters.
