I was camping with my cousin on a beach in Hawaii. We had just rinsed are clothes and were walking around in towels, and decided it would be fun to go explore around the side of the beach. There were a lot of black pebbles and neat rocks, so we decided to climb around the side of this rock wall a little bit. All of sudden we were above water with a coral reef just below the surface. We realized we had no way to go but up, cause we couldnt really climb backwards. Several times I grabbed ahold of large rock pieces (500 lbs+) which would shift when I put my weight on them. Hawaii is obviously all fragile crumbly volcanic rock, and this was a really stupid thing for us to get ourselves into. I was scared out of my mind, every rock I grabbed felt like it could be my last, several times I contemplated just jumping into the water, and hoping I missed the coral. The cliff was at least 100 feet up. It took us over 3 hours, but we made it to the top. As all I was wear was a towel, and I'm fair skinned, I got burned bad, but I was happy just to be alive, and thanked my maker a few times for saving my from my stupidity. But when we got to the top, there was a lighthouse, which aparently was having a grand opening, as there was about 60 people dressed in their Sunday best. They saw us climb up over the side, we ran past them like idiots, naked except for a towel, barefoot, and sunburned all to hell. We got lucky and found a ride back to the beach.
Don't be dumb like we were.

In the spring of '99 I started down our little country road one morning looking for deer. I was going slowly through the woods when I saw what I thought was a huge sandy-red dog standing in the road. As I got closer, it turned it's head toward me and I saw it was a cougar. She leaped into the ditch and just then two little fuzzy spotted kits hopped up onto the road, scrambled to the other side, and tumbled down into the ditch where their mother was waiting. I'd heard there were a few cougars in our area (southern middle Tennessee) so I called the game warden and he confirmed that I wasn't dreaming. They were beautiful but after that, I stayed close to the house after dark. (true story)
