We use a regular mouse trap and a tiny bit of peanut butter on the inside area that holds the bait so they can't get it out without getting caught. We catch rats and mice 100% of the time with this method.

I have found that bacon wrapped around the trap works. Just on the end. They will take the cheese without snapping the trap and they lick the peanut butter off, I swear. Make sure if you reuse the trap you are cleaning the part that snaps properly. If they smell their relatives on there they won't go near it. I would just clean it by placing over a flame to burn off any scent of previous mice. Just move it around some make sure you don't linger or the only thing your catch is a burn or fire. Hope this helps. If none of this works get a cat or enjoy them as house pets. HAA HAA

Get a cat, a young one, and don't give it any cat food. He'll eat mice and do fine.

OR, try gumdrops in the mousetrap. Kind of push the bait platform into the drop, and them mouse will nibble and gnaw and get all sugar-high and then wiggle the platform hard enough and BAM.

Mix peanut butter and Boric acid and give 'em a HELL of a tummy ache.

Try the sticky bait traps. They're a tray of sweet smelling goo, and the mouse steps on and gets stuck. I've seen them chew their own legs off to get away, but either way they die.

My Dad uses Peanut butter on a trap usual and it tends to work

We're dealing with that now too. Best I've found is using the glue traps. They're non-toxic (if you have kids or pets). If you don't want to just throw them out with the trap,(that squeaking noise they make really gets to me) you can pour vegetable oil on the trap and they'll work themselves free. Just be sure to drop them off somewhere at least 1 mile away.

Go with the peanut butter, cheese doesn't work. I was breeding mice for a snake for a year or so and they didn't seem to even like cheese.

Here is the answer to your question, i had experience before wih rats and it work like a charm. Buy some rat poison, spread it a little all around, put some cheese beside it, which will confuse the rat, once the rat eats the cheeze it will eat the poison beside it, you will see result. It will kick in in no time, and the rats is dead.
Good luck

Take some cheap white bread and squish it into a little ball. Worked like a charm for me. Good luck.
