We used to play a game where we sat around in a circle with the lights off and the adult told a story about a witch and a cat flying around on their broom and the cat falls off and gets knicked and injured on stars, moon etc as it falls. As you tell the story you pass objects around in the dark. Eg. dish with peeled grapes= eyeballs, a bowl of cooked spaghetti noodles are the intestines (or brain), and something like a cold mini-sip for the heart. You might be able to find the exact story on the internet somewhere.
It sounds a little gross but it was always such a big hit. We did this when I was in girl guides so I was around that age. You definitely get a lot of squeals and giggles!
Play Body Parts. Have the kids sit in a circle in dimly lit room while you make up a story about a mean, old witch who falls apart, piece by piece. As you talk about each body part, pass around a paper bag lined with a plastic bag, and have the kids feel inside without looking. The bag should contain the "body part" that fell off, such as peeled grapes for eyeballs, a canned apricot for a tongue, popcorn kernels for teeth, cooked spaghetti for brains, a large peeled tomato for a heart, cooked macaroni noodles for intestines, a slab of Jell-O for the liver, and so on. Have the kids guess what you used for the body parts, then reveal the foods.
Another variation on the story: There was a monster who loved in a rotten, crumbing haunted mansion. He ate toads for supper. On one Halloween night he was out at a Spooky Party. On his way to his haunted house, he crossed a deep muddy swamp and a huge rain storm blew in from the north. The monster was caught in the swampy mud and he drowed in the heavy rain. since then, parts of his body have washed and floated up to the top of the swampy water each scary, spooky Halloween.
We are now going to pass these body part around to you.
1.This big monster once could hear. Now he no longer has an ear.
(Pass the prune around the circle)
2.All of the toads and frogs had a surprise when they swam past the monsters eyes.
(Pass the grapes)
3.None of the bats dared to linger when they saw the monster's long skinny fingers float by.
(Pass the long green beans)
4.The monster did not look the same, because you are holding his brain.
(Pass the cooked broccoli)
5.The fish got tangled there in the long slimy monster's hair.
(Pass the noodles)
6.When the crayfish took their swim they saw all these maggots jump from him.
(Pass the cooked rice)
7.The teeth from the monster's mouth have all fallen out.
8.When the Halloween bell was rung, the monster's teeth bit off his tongue.
