What is the system that is used for generating one's social security number? i.e. year born, location etc?

social security number are nine numbers and the first three are the state and city you was born in.
go to social security gov and get more information.
these days social security are used for everything.

I don't know but I don't think it depends on state because my kids were born in the same state I was and our number are all different in the beginning.

It's not where you were born, it's where you were registered. My kids where born in Germany but registered in upstate NY so they have the same first 3 digits as my SSN.

All I know is the first three digits are based on which state you are born in.
