In response to the last answer "there are no log cabins (or chalets) in Scotland". Rubbish! I live in Scotland and I've stayed in one! Finding one near Edinburgh may be a problem. The highlands have plenty Your best bet is probably to call the the Scottish tourist board, or Visit Scotland as it is known. Their website has plenty of good information.

The first thing I think of when Edinburgh is mentioned is not log cabins! Kings and queens, yes. Shirley Manson, yes. But not log cabins, sorry.

There are no log cabins in Scotland. In fact to my knowledge log cabins are more in the Northern part of the US only. You could do maybe a bed/breakfast or stay in castles that offer stays.
