RSS stands for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. It is a voluntary organisation comprising volunteers who are committed to make India a wealthy, prosperous and developed nation by preaching Hindutwa for universal well being of the mankind as a whole. It is against caste-ism in Hindu society and the Western theory of Aryan invasion of India from outside. It stands for Bharatiyata as a cultural nationalism which is best preserved by the way of living adopted by every Bharatiya or Hindu. It has nothing to do with organised religions as Hinduism was never an organised religion. But it is dead against conversion of a Bharatiya or Hindu to any other religion like Christianity or Islam, and urges all Hindus who or whose forefathers had got converted due to circumstances beyond their control to come back to the Hindu fold and say with pride that they are Hindus. Its overseas wing is known as Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh. Every Hindu is presumed to be a Swayamsevak of the Sangh.
There is nothing called a Sangh parivar which the media has coined for its own sake. The voluntary service called 'seva' is carried out in different forms to cater to the needs felt in various sections in the society. There are 36 such organisations under the tutelage of the RSS whom the Press refers as Sangha Parivar.
RSS is acknowledged as the largest NGO as on date in the world with more than 10 million volunteers trainned under its philanthripic banner. Its headquaters is located at Nagpur (India).
