Last spring, I looked out the window and saw a nest on the ground, it appeared to have fallen out of a tree. Soon, I saw a robin fly down to the nest and begin picking at it rather frantically. Finally, the robin picked a moving object the size of a baby bird and flew away. Most people tell me this never happens, but a 98 year old woman tells me, yes, birds can pick up their young. Has anyone else ever seen this happen?

Hi. Are you sure it was not a small hawk? I think it may be possible but you would have to see the bird return to the nest.

I think they can. A squirrell bird was in my yard. I thought the cats killed it and I put in a bag on my front porch. Momma came around the front, so I checked the bag and it was a baby, alive! I put it on the ground by a tree. Momma must of picked it up within two minutes. It was gone! All cats in the house..

I've never seen it, and am pretty sure it's inmpossible. those tiny feet they have wouldn't support a chick- thats why it takes them forever to build nests they only can hold like a stick at a time... as far as I know at least...

I've never seen it happen...I wish they could...many baby birds have fallen in my back yards and the mothers keep calling them.

I don't think so, def. not sparrows and small birds like that. Maybe big birds. I watch a lot of documentaries on animals, never heard or seen anything like that.
