menopause happens because the ovaries cease to function optimally. While a teenager can go into a menopause type situation is it extremely abnormal and needs to be evaluated by a doctor asap.

I highly doubt it. The soonest for natural menopause could be around 30, my mom was, called premature menopause. Menopause is caused when your ovaries don't have any more eggs, or if the doctor takes out your uterus. You possiblly could have some medical problem, perhaps by hormone imbalance, or sometimes when the girl is not eating properly or exercising too much. Did you start your period normally? How long has your period not been going on. It is normal for a teenager if she has just started her period to skip one or two months here or there in the first year also, because she is not ovulating yet, or putting out eggs. ( That is not to say she can have sex without protection, and I am not implying this about you. I want to let everyone know that chlymdia and STD's are out there, and if one gets genital herpes, its the gift you get to keep all your life. ) I would say that if you are not getting your period after having it, for several months, maybe you should check with your doctor.

Very early menopause isn't unknown, although I'm not sure if it's ever been recorded as young as 16. There are probably are reasons. Are you having other health problems? Eating enough? Working out a lot?

Body fat produces oestrogen, so if you don't have enough of it (like some athletes), your periods can stop. The adrenal glands also produce oestrogen and other hormones, so if they're not working right, oestrogen levels can fall and symptoms like night sweats can start. If that's the case, you'll have other health problems as well.

Eat smart and if it continues, see a doctor. Family planning clinics are often warmer places than regular doctors and, depending on funding, may be able to see you with little or no fee.

It would be really unlikely for a 16 yr old girl to go through menopause- but it is not unusual to have hot flashes, mood changes and period irregularity when you are 16 too...

If you've skipped a period or it;s irregular, go have a chat with your doctor or a nurse practitioner- sometimes a good gyn nurse practitioner is a girls very best friend, and often they are easier to reach than your doc.

no, physically impossible. If you missing your period call your GYN, the pill, if your not on it, can regulate you or if you are on the pill may have screwed up your cycle for this month. If you are waking up with night sweats or having hot flashes it is most likley anxiety. I had the same thing at 26 and thought I had menopause too. Call your GYN or primary care. Don't worry, you'll be okay even if it doesn't feel like it now, you will be :)

no way, if you mean that you did not get your period for some time or irregular then you need to see your OB GYN . It happens for many reasons, stress and many other variables.
