I heard if you pay enough money, you can restore files from wiped harddrive. I had a toshiba and used the factory CD to restore to factory settings since my computer was having problems(freezing upon start up, crashing, etc). i thought i backed up files to external seagate harddrive but it was actually backed up onto the C: drive so when wiped it, the backup got wiped as well. i got a new laptop, is there any way i can recover the old files even though i used the CD to restore? if the pay is high enough i heard?

Ontrack could probably do it. www.ontrack.com And yes, it will be very expensive.

The answer is 'maybe'.

If it were only erased, then the files may well be recoverable.

If software were used which removes the files and rewrites over
the old file areas, then your data is probably gone.

You may need the help of a specialist to be sure.

I bought some software called (I believe) Erepro, which is an
erase recovery routine which I have used to recover files I thought
were gone forever. There may be better software on the market now.

So, you have a reasonable chance. Go to it, and good luck

well.. yes and no
i mean for a sure 100% complete recovery you might have to pay some money but a fair enough data recovery is possible using some of the software available on the web and on CDs

EasyRecovery Pro is a great software that can recover you files even from a formatted drive.. one of my friends was able to make a successful recovery from a formatted drive using it.. you can easily find cracked version of it on P2P networks that are completely virus-free,,,
