I would think you are more likely to have a headache if you're dehydrated. However, if you drink too much water in a short timespan, you can get Hyperhydration, or water poisoning, which causes sodium levels to fall to unhealtly levels that can lead to death.

It's the coldness of water that can give you headaches. Like Ice Cream, which will also give you headaches if you eat it too quickly.
So, it's not the amount you eat/drink. It's how fast you eat/drink it that makes you have headaches...

i drink 48-96 oz. of water per day. this is on top of coffee/tea/ oj, etc. i have to do this to insure good bowel movements. it works well. it isn,t too much. the only people i,ve ever heard of dying from too much water were marathon runners who ran and over watered on extremely hot days. the average person is not at risk under most circumstances.

i never heard of it causing one but i know that when i feel a headache coming on i drink some water......i read somewhere that it cures headaches and it does mine every time!!!

Yes, it is the so called water intoxication, were in body fluids becomes diluted thus decreasing the concentration of serum sodium, resulting to hyponatremia.
