Because they are the only people in this country who get to vote on their own wages, retirement packages, health care options and rules of behavior.

This abuse of power and action contrary to the ideals of this country should not go unpunished. They have made themselves into some kind of nobility. They have violated the spirit and law of the Constitution, and the other Branches have failed in their duty to check and balance this abuse.

They make the rules, and definition of what constitutes a bribe. Contributions to a campaign fund are not considered bribes, but they keep whats in that fund when they leave office.
Just think about how much money could accumulate in a campaign fund in just one term in office.

Taking a bribe is illegal both for the briber and the bribed but
as my history teacher once said, it's not illegal 'til you're caught.

why do you think lobbyists are in DC? Do you think that pleading their case would be as effective as making backroom deals with the lawmakers?

They get around it by calling they campaign contributions and donations! don't you wish we all could do that same?
