Maybe because sometimes your mom knows what is best for you . She also loves you and wants to keep you safe

Because your mom is trying to protect you. What’s the history of the person driving? Do they have a lot of tickets; drive like a maniac; do they drink, take drugs? Is the driver a flake who would just leave you somewhere if you got separated? Will you be exposed to booze and/or drugs? Your mom has some reason not to trust the driver. Frustrating, I know, but she really does have your best interest in mind.
If your mom is mistaken in her opinion -- you need to convince her that you would be reasonably safe. Also, you need to show your mom that you can be responsible for her to let you go more often -- even when she may have some doubts.

Because the person driving must be someone your parents are not confortable with you riding with. Is the driver irresponsible? Do you parents know the driver? Perhaps instead of having a temper tantrum, you could ask them to clarify why they won't let you go with the driver. Perhaps you could still go if they drove you. If you take a deep breath and look at the situation with maturity, that means no whining, your parents might be willing to meet you halfway in the middle.
Truly, they only have your best interests at heart. They do NOT want to be called at 10pm by the cops telling them their kid is splattered all over the expressway. Can you blame them for that? how would you like to be called out of school and told your parents are splattered?

Safety reasons. They want to make sure you're safe, that the person driving you is a responsible, trustowrthy person, and a safe driver who won't do something foolish like get behind the wheel after having downed 5 beers, 3 jello shots and 2 rum & cokes....

Well, it could be a million things, but it sums up to your mother probably cares and is concerned that driver is not safe. In small towns especially, parents hear things and know things. In larger towns parents of friends tend to talk about the kids and what they know so it is quite possible your mother might know something you don't.

My best answer is talk with your mom, not with the intention of going or changing her mind, but try to see what she knows and why she feels that way. Sometimes asking a parent their thoughts, will help explain things a lot.

It could be the fact that she doesn't know them, or she has heard stuff about that persons driving. You may be upset, but sweety look at it this way, your mother cares so much for you, and what hurts the most is to lose your child, I would know. Try to talk to your mom and ask her if she'd like to meet that person or why she doesn't want you to ride with that person? But don't get mad with her, be calm. Good luck!

Because they don't want you to be in the hospital or dead. Duh. :-)

The odds of a teen driver in a car full of teens is VERY high. Usually when these wrecks happen they're bad because teens also don't watch their speeds and don't think ahead as much.

They just had a fatal wreck down the road from me last week. Carload of kids with a teen drive. Teen gets distracted for a split second on the road to his home. Car drifts across center line, hits another head-on... kid driver is DEAD and everyone else goes to the hospital.

Trust me sweetheart- it is only out of pure love that they try to protect u the way they do! They r not trying to make u upset- or to make life harder fopr u- they just want u to get home in one peice. They love u and they worry about you! Hitch a ride with someone else that they do think is responsible! And always remember- they love u!

Because your parents are responsible for your well being and they don't feel the person driving is a responsible person.

Next time ask your mom to drive or say you're taking public transpo. Mom obviously has reasons for her decision that you are too young to understand yet
