The easiest way is to do a proportion.....is that what you're working on at school?
x = g of sugar for 8 person cake
5 people / 75 g = 8 people / x g
(It looks better if you write it straight up and down on paper with the 5 right over the 75 and the 8 over the x.)
Now, to solve for x, cross multiply (top of one side times bottom of the other).
5x = 600
Next, divide both sides by 5.
x = 120
So, 120 g of sugar are needed for an 8 person cake.

For 1 person, the amount of sugar needed = 75 / 5 = 15 gm
