$300 is quite a bit to pay for any m/w oven. You can get a new one at many stores for $50 and even less >> Wal-Mart. Yes-- the m/w oven can be repaired -- just a manner of money .Several things can prevent the m/w from operating >> bad diode / capacitor / door switch(s) /maggi is bad / bad wire /faulty control board. You might consider going around town to garage / yard sales -- many sell used m/w ovens for a $20 bill and less. You can find many good deals at these yard sales.

Check the warranty, it could still be valid and so you can get an exchange. If you still have the sales receipt then you can go to the store and try to exchange it. If you are still paying Sears for it then they should have a copy of your contact so you can get an exchange.
Take your faulty microwave to Sears and go to the department where you got it and explain your problem. If that doesn't work then ask to see the department manager. If that doesn't work then I don't know any remedy for you except a costly lawsuit.
If you are making payments for it on your credit card then they might be able to help.

Sounds like the door control switch has loosened and only working some of the time, check it out, but unplug it first.

Sears is known for standing behind the products they sell. Take it back to Sears and ask them to replace it.

now you understand the value of extended protection plans. Microwaves are not something you could fix yourself, but get sears to look at it.

It is fixable if there is no warranty left repairs are usually inexpensive on micro waves, Ask what it will cost when they trouble shoot the problem then you can decide, good luck.

You can unplug it, take it apart and check the door switch to see if it's working correctly.
