I want to change careers by starting as a hobbyist woodworker, then transition it into a full-time profession. I'm 44 now and am wondering how much of a sense of urgency I need to have. If some of you are/were about my age when you started, I won't feel like I'm so far behind.

I have been working with wood ever since I could pick up a Hammer. Check with your local High school and see if they have a night program for adults. good learning program and Idea exchange. I loved it they had tools that I did not have room for or could not afford.
